A Tale of Two Stanleys and Some Kings

This afternoon was very exciting...The Flat Stanleys first Los Angeles Kings hockey game, and their first time seeing some of Los Angeles!

Stanley #1 had no idea Staples Center was so big! And the area downtown around it is all brand new. There is even supposed to be a skating rink put up outside in a few weeks. Wouldn't it be fun to see that?

And just as he was getting his picture taken to document this big event, a friend spotted Stanley and came over to say hello.

This nice lady was visiting LA all the way from Vancouver, British Columbia, which is in Canada! She remembered Stanley from a trip he made to her town, and was so happy to see him, she wanted her picture taken too! Traveling is a great thing, because you get to make friends everywhere!

On the way into the game, Stanley #1 got to pose for a picture with the most famous hockey player of all time - Wayne Gretzky. Well, at least a statue of him. Stanley #2 wasn't so excited, but he isn't really as big a hockey fan. He was mostly there to hang out and have a good time.

And then the Stanley's met some NEW friends - Chris and Keith from KingsCast, the number one podcast of Los Angeles Kings fans (at least that's what Meg says). They were pretty cool, and we tried to negotiate a deal to get the Stanley's an appearance with KingsCast, but they already had another more important interview scheduled. Maybe next time!

Then inside, the Stanley's met some more of Meg's friends! These girls are Jen and Brianna Wells, and they're sisters and REALLY big hockey fans!

The Wells' sisters were sitting right behind the glass watching the Kings warm-up, and they were nice enough to let the Stanley's have a peek.

Then we headed over to the other side of the arena to our seats for the game. We got to sit really close over there as well, and Stanley #1 got to watch the Nashville Predators warm up too!

Unfortunately the Kings did not play very well, and lost to the visiting Predators 3-1. While the Stanleys were disappointed in the game outcome, they loved making new friends and had a really great time seeing Staples Center. And since Stanley #1 is sticking around LA for a while, he may just be lucky enough to see another game before it's time to go home to Rhode Island.
