I followed my day at the beach with a journey in the extreme opposite direction. Driving 5 hours east across the desert is a great way to clear your mind. Nothing but open road and triple digit temperatures with Michael Jackson's "Speed Demon" playing on the iPod. At least until you arrive at the unfortunate road block. Life throws those at you when you're least expecting them.
As you spend a brutal final hour struggling to reach your destination, you think past the immediate problem and focus on what really matters. And even though your first inclination is to just give up and go back, you know what lies ahead will make the journey worth it.
